Former Bangladeshi Minister Ramesh Chandra Sen Dies in Custody
Veteran Awami League leader and former Water Resources Minister Ramesh Chandra Sen, 85, has died after falling critically ill while in custody at Dinajpur District Jail on 7 February 2026.
Sen, a five-time Member of Parliament, was taken to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital early Saturday morning but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. He had been detained since 16 August 2024 and was facing multiple charges, including a murder case, under the current interim administration.
His passing — just days ahead of the 12 February general election — has intensified scrutiny and raised serious concerns over the treatment of senior political figures
