Bangladesh 2026 — Election and a Crisis of Trust
On 12 February 2026, Bangladesh held its 13th parliamentary election alongside a constitutional referendum. Official turnout was reported at nearly 60%. The Bangladesh Nationalist Party secured a majority, and the referendum passed.
But questions persist.
In Rajshahi–4, turnout was initially reported above 200% before being revised to 72%, raising concerns about data accuracy. Social media also circulated images of quiet polling stations and claims of irregularities.

The vote took place without the participation of the Bangladesh Awami League, shaping perceptions of legitimacy.
